Twin Falls Optimist Club Day!
CLUB DAY - the 3rd Thursday of the Month. Each month the Optimist Members visit a different business to show our support in the Twin Falls Community!
Club Day 2/16/23 - we had the privilege of visiting Gemstone Climbing for our Club Day Meeting. Patty McFarling, manager at Gemstone Climbing, gave us a very informative and heart warming presentation about their Adaptive Climbing Program. Gemstone has partnered with United way of South Central Idaho to provide climbing opportunities for youth and disadvantaged community members. The Adaptive Climbing Program is a nonprofit that started in 2019. They first started out working with Primary Therapy Source, and they served 80 kiddos the first summer the program started. Now the program runs twice a week for 4 hours a day and is very volunteer-driven. Gemstone is the only climbing gym in the state of Idaho that has an adaptive program, and one of the few in the entire country! They were even featured on Outdoor Idaho on PBS. Gemstone also helped design the first Arc Harness for youth, which is a seated lift chair that was created by Mark Welman. Mark even made a special visit to Gemstone to see the youth harness in action! Gemstone Climbing was designed with the vision that everyBODY can climb. They continue to find new and innovative ways to make sure their programs are all-inclusive to support the health and well-being of our community.
