PAST EVENTS
Previous Projects
Optimist Clubs participate in activities to inspire respect for law enforcement among young people and to educate them on the jobs these brave men and women perform. Events are also held to promote a sense of well-being in the community such as child ID events, poster or essay contests on alternatives to violence, and various family-friendly activities.
In December the club gets into the Christmas spirit by partnering with the Boys & Girls Club to provide a full Christmas dinner for kids and their families. Santa is also a part of this fun event. The club provides the dessert and serves the meals at this fun event.
The Belling Ringing Campaign enables the Salvation Army to provide food, toys, and clothing to more than six million people during the Christmas season and helps more than 34 million Americans recovering from personal disasters nationwide. On a local level, the Twin Falls Optimist Club helps by volunteering our time on a Saturday during the Holidays to raise money for the Salvation Army.
The club has been co-sponsoring this event for the past 30 years with the Twin Falls Parks & Recreation Department. This event is held on the Saturday before Easter at the Twin Falls City Park. This Easter Egg Hunt is the largest and longest-running hunt in Twin Falls. Children are split into four age groups for their chance to win special eggs that can be redeemed for a gold one-dollar coin.
The Twin Falls Optimist Club is very proud to sponsor a room at the new Ronald McDonald House (RMHC) in Boise, ID. We are able to help the RMHC serve three times as many families with the comfort of “home”. In the past year, 55% of the RMHC’s occupancy was from the Magic Valley & Bellevue area.
